INTERVIEW: A Check-In with Michael Mahler from VIBO

From time to time this year, I will be sharing tools on this podcast that I use which I think can help you as a DJ. In this episode, I sit down with VIBO's founder, Michael Mahler. Vibo is an event planning music app that I've been using ever since it launched in the US back in 2017. For those not familiar with the app, Michael will talk us through some of the highlights of the product. We'll discuss some of the things on the horizon for the app and then also he drops a golden nugget in sharing one of the things he wishes he could go back and tell his younger entrepreneurial self. Lastly, he'll share where you can find him and demo the product for yourself in 2023.

Why DJs Should Be Using A Booth Monitor

I come from a destination event background where guest counts typically range from 50-150 people. The thought of needing or wanting a booth monitor just seemed unnecessary. Over the years, I've evolved on this issue. I give you some reasons to consider having one at every event as well as share which models I use within this episode. If you use a monitor, what are you using? Inquiring minds would love to know.

What's In My DJ Rider?

Upon looking at the title, you might think to yourself, "This guy sure is full of himself! A rider? For a private event DJ?" The answer is 'no' to the full of himself part but 'yes' to the need for a private event DJ. In this episode, I talk through why I feel it's important to have one and some of the things you should include. At the end, I share where you can download my personal DJ rider in full.

What Are Planners Looking For In DJ Gear Set-Ups?

As you move into higher end events, you will inevitably be working with a planner. So it makes sense to ask, what are planners looking for in DJ Set-ups? This may influence what you invest money into. I don't think it's as complicated as it may seem. Communication is key. In this episode, I talk through what is truly important here and share a few of the things that have worked well for me. DJs: Interested in Heavy Hits Music Pool?
